Racial and ethnic disproportionality in school discipline is a pressing challenge across the country. Given the well-documented negative effects of exclusionary discipline on a range of student outcomes, educators must address this issue. But the question remains: how can we best intervene? The existing research is clear that no single strategy will be sufficient to produce substantive and sustainable change. This full-day session will focus on a multiple component approach emphasizing five inter-related areas to reduce disproportionality through school-wide and classroom strategies. Participants will leave with new skills and action plans for their schools to enhance equity.
